Only use dead bait fish that have already been frozen once. Thawed bait no longer becomes “stiff” and therefore moves much more naturally on the rig. The wire should always be a finger’s width away from the bait fish.

Always pierce the air bubble of the dead bait fish before mounting. To improve the running action or if the lure rotates, gut the bait fish through the anus using an artery clamp.
